Synonyms for places to go to stop thinking and simply dwell on ideas that you want to believe and that comfort you, or give you some kind of emotional release without actually thinking anything through.

People prefer to simply believe what they want to believe and what comforts them.  They avoid critical thinking like the plague - after all, it's hard work, they are not accustomed to it, and they have had little practice, even in school for many, and never in a "place of 'worship'" or other "holy place".
